Breaker keeps tripping

Sooner Home Services

A breaker that trips repeatedly is doing its job. The question is whether the circuit is overloaded, has a short, or has a ground fault.

Unplug everything on that circuit and reset. If it holds, add loads back one at a time. If it trips with nothing connected, that is a fault in the wiring and it needs an electrician. Never replace a breaker with a larger one – the breaker protects the wire, and a bigger breaker on the same wire is how fires start.
