Frozen pipes

Pipes freeze in unconditioned spaces – crawlspaces, exterior walls, attics and garages. Oklahoma freezes are short but severe enough to burst them.
Open cabinet doors under sinks on exterior walls and let a faucet drip during a hard freeze. If a pipe is frozen but not burst, warm it gradually with a hair dryer working from the faucet back. Never use an open flame. Disconnect garden hoses in autumn – a hose left attached is the most common cause of a burst sillcock.
