Garbage disposal jammed

A humming disposal that will not turn is jammed. A silent one has tripped its overload or lost power.
Turn it off at the switch. Use the hex key in the bottom center to free the impeller by hand, then press the red reset button. Never put your hand in the chamber. If it is silent, check the reset button and the breaker before assuming the motor.
